The DeSantis Family Charitable Foundation · Effective Date: May 14, 2026 · Last Updated: May 14, 2026
Our Commitment
The DeSantis Family Charitable Foundation (DFCF™) is committed to ensuring that our website — thedesantisfamily.org — is accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. We believe every donor, volunteer, family, and individual seeking support deserves equal access to information about our programs and how to connect with our community.
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our site and to align with recognized best practices and standards.
Conformance Status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments.
Our site is built on WordPress with Elementor. We are committed to applying accessible design practices wherever the platform allows.
Current accessibility features include:
- Semantic HTML structure with descriptive heading hierarchy (H1–H6)
- Color contrast ratios designed to meet or exceed WCAG AA minimums for body text and key UI elements
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
- Skip-to-content navigation link for keyboard users
- Keyboard-navigable navigation and interactive elements where platform features allow
- Accessibility toolbar available on every page for high-contrast display and text size adjustment
- Responsive design that adapts to mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes
- No auto-playing audio or video content
- Language attribute set on all pages for screen reader compatibility
Known Limitations
The DeSantis Family Charitable Foundation is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. We acknowledge that our site may have areas that do not yet fully meet all accessibility standards. Known or potential limitations include:
- Donation, volunteer, and help request forms may be hosted or processed by third-party providers and may have their own accessibility limitations
- Event listings and calendar features may include third-party embedded content with platform-level accessibility constraints
- PDF documents or downloadable files linked from our site may not be fully accessible to screen reader users — we are working to address this
- Certain design features within our WordPress and Elementor environment may have platform-level constraints that limit full customization for accessibility
- Older images may lack descriptive alt text and are being updated on a rolling basis
We are committed to addressing these limitations over time and welcome feedback to help us prioritize improvements.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our site is designed to be compatible with modern assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver)
- Browser zoom and text resizing
- Keyboard-only navigation
- High-contrast display modes
Third-Party Content
Our site embeds content and forms from third-party providers including donation processors, event platforms, and partner organizations. These providers are responsible for the accessibility of their own embedded tools. If you encounter accessibility barriers in embedded content, please let us know and we will contact the provider on your behalf.
